In an effort to provide a safe and orderly environment, all students enrolled in Martyn Alternative School are required to wear the official school uniform. The uniform must include slacks or skirt, shirt, belt, socks and closed heel-and-toe shoes. Students may not alter the uniform in any way. Non-compliance will result in disciplinary action. The Uniform Policy is in effect daily until students leave the school campus.
Navy Blue Shorts or Pants and Light Blue Polo Style Shirt
Khaki Uniform Pants or Khaki Pleated Skirt – Skirt must be hemmed to the top of the knee. Skirt waistbands must be visible. A solid brown, black or khaki belt must be worn with pants.
Red Polo Style Shirt– No logo is required at this time. The uniform shirt must be tucked inside the pants or skirt so that the belt is visible. Collars must be worn down and sleeves may not be rolled. ONLY a plain white T-shirt, the red P.E. shirt, or a plain white or red long-sleeved shirt may be worn under the uniform shirt.
Black, white, red or gray sneakers and brown, black or tan dress or casual shoes – Shoes must have backs with no heels higher than three inches. Shoestrings must be white, brown or black. No sandals are allowed.
Light outerwear – Black, navy, white or red sweatshirts or light jackets. No logos/writing may appear on the outerwear. Heavy outerwear – Any heavy coat may be worn outside the building only. (NO STARTER JACKETS OF ANY KIND)
The following items are NOT ALLOWED on the school campus:
- Headwear of any type, including hats, scarves, bandanas and headbands
- Armbands and wristbands
- Earrings larger than the size of a quarter
- Excessive jewelry, including heavy or multiple chains, bracelets, nameplates, and large rings
- Colored plastic jewelry
- Eyebrow, nose, tongue or any visible body piercing
- Hair dyed any unnatural hair color
- Any distractive makeup or excessive hair style
- Clothing worn inside-out
ELECTRONIC DEVICES including beepers, cell phones, ipods, hand-held games, CD players, etc. (These items will be confiscated and returned only to parents.)
Clear or mesh book bags may be carried by students. No other book bags will be allowed on campus.
